About Me

Thank you for your interest in me! I am more fun in person than on camera 🙂 Here is a little something me:

Short Biokick1a

I have a B.S in BioMedical Engineering/ BioEngineering (emphasis in tissue engineering). I hold Nidan (second degree) black belt in traditional Japanese Karate. I have been lifting weights for over 15 years. I have a J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles.

Long Bio

I was born and raised in a small town in Poland. Since I can remember, I have been physically active. On warm days I ran outside. In the winter, I jumped on furniture and climbed door frames. Once, I broke a wall mirror while practicing a cartwheel (sorry, mom). I learned jump roping before I could read; however, double-under did not come to my attention until a few years ago – I still work on them.

I moved to the USA in high school. The transition was not easy since I did not speak English (hence my accent). One day I sat on a bed to read a book, and my pants ripped on my butt. “Oops” I said. “I have noticed gaining weight, but…. oh well, these are old pants!” Next day I attempted to put on another pair of jeans and, guess what, I could not zip them up! I tired and tried until… the zipper cracked! “Hmmm” I thought. I must have gained way more weight than anticipated because my clothes does not fit me, right? What should I do?

And that’s how my journey with fitness and diet took its course. I purchased a few VHS tapes (that’s what we had back then) and exercised along. My attention turned to the food I ate, and within a few months I got back into my normal weight. My old clothes fit well again. Still, my interests in health and exercise remained. I subscribed to fitness magazines and checked out books from a library. I joined a local health club shortly after my 18th birthday. Back then I enjoyed swimming and a group exercises. But honestly, I felt embarrassed on fitness machines. Like most girls, I thought that weights are only for guys. Besides, I did not want to get big muscles!! (Oh man, how much didn’t I know?!!)

Weightlifting and cardio came along with martial arts. I noticed deficiencies in my karate training. I was not as strong as I needed to be and I was not  as good as I wanted to be. To make up, I went to a gym and experimented with equipment. Also, I signed up for Muay Thai and Kickboxing. While preparing for my black belt promotion test, I discovered intense interval training: HIIT. Immediately I saw improvement. I was getting leaner, stronger, and faster. I loved it!! easter photo fitappy

Then dark years came. I took some time off from karate to finish law school and focus on my family. My body became a reflection of my life style and I did not like it. Then Covid came and gyms closed causing a huge slow down in my progress. But here I am 2 years later: fitter and happier.

I know how hard it is to devote time to yourself. Sometimes it seems impossible… but with time and hard work it can happen. I made it happen. So can you.

I work out regularly, continue reading on health and fitness, and try to stay fit. I also resumed my karate training. Life is a journey, and everyday is an adventure, so buckle up and enjoy the ride! Stay focused and do not compare yourself to others.

That’s me. Feel free to ask questions in comments or shoot me and email.

    Hi. Nice to meet you.
I came across your video yesterday which tutors in how to skip rope efficiently. I thought that you were good teacher. So, I typed your blog’s address – fitappy.wordpress.com – on the Internet.
I found that your blog was great. I have just watched ‘Dynamic Flexibility Training ★ Stretching + Warm up’

and ‘W6 abs’. It was what I have been looking for. And today you have updated ‘HIIT’. I will watch this video, too.
Maybe, you can’t understand this message. Maybe, you thought that my literary style is little bit strange. But, please do not mistake me for suspicious girl. My mother language is not English. I couldn’t help but writing in a poor style.
I became rounded from November. I want to be in good shape and be healthy like you. I’

  13. Heeeey , this is the best blog ever,, I was searching for excercises for begginers like I am , and I ran into your videos on youtube, LOVED them, you really make it look easy and not complicated.
I’m changing my lifestyle because recently I started eating too much, without working out at all, You gave me inspiration and help, thanx a lot !!!
but I want to ask how often should I do excercises ,and what is better : to excersise before or after breakfast ?!?!?
    Thank you !

    • Depends on a few things. If you are REALLY out of shape, you can start by exercising 3 times a week (or every other day) and later increase it to 5 days. Aim for cardio 3 times a week (if you can 15-20 min. in the beginning). You can exercise on an empty stomach if your exercises aren’t too intense, otherwise have something light about 30 min. before your workout. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3WoCaNbvzk

  21. sea pea says:

Hey this is an awesome blog. Its simple, easy and from a normal person. No junk; no selling; no ads; i love it and it will be my favorite.

  22. Amaia says:

    Hi 🙂
True, your blog is just awesome! I love it :DD It’s already the first one in my favourites.
By the way, could you help me with my workout? I’ve got big thighs in comparison to my upper body, and all the fat just gets stuck in my legs. Could you tell me a really effective workout to burn specially leg fat? I know I can’t change my body-type, but anyway, I’d like my legs to look slim or at least slimmer.
    Thanks a lot! 😀

    • From what you described, it looks like you have to do cardio workouts. You have fat in your thighs because your body accumulates it that area 😦 Do cardio 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes. Healthy eating will help too. Allow at least 2-3 weeks to see how your body will respond selected exercises. Also, regular lower body training (1-2 a week) won’t hurt 😉 Good luck!

  23. Amaia says:

Thanks a lot! Yeah, you’re right all the fat goes to that damn area! :S
I’ll go for cardio, body training and will keep with my diet, which I think is quite healthy.
I’ve been told the best cardio type is HIT, a much more effective fat burner than low intensity cardio. I love swimming, is there any exercise more acqurate to burn lower body fat though?
By the way, what do you exactly mean by “selected exercises”? Thanks again, and congratulations, I think it’s just great there is people like you who invest their time and effort helping people selfessly!! 😀

  24. I’ve been using your workouts and I am loving them. I was involved In Muay Thai and Kickboxing myself for years and recently moved to Northern Canada were I have to be creative about my workouts. Sometimes it’s just really nice to have someone else tell you what to do. Thanks so much for the extra push. You are AWESOME!

  25. Sandhya says:

i have a question, Iam not obese or too fat, but my things and lower back are heavy, and that looks too odd. could you tell me what is the best way to loose fat from things and butt.

I came across your videos on youtube and they are awesome! your blog is just as great (and i’m usually not one to really pay attention to blogs!) just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for being so relatable, it’s too often you see victorias secret looking models in workout posts which deter us all because it seems unrealistic and unachievable! 32. Natalia says:

  33. Nathalie says:

    Bonjour from Montreal, Quebec, Canada!!

You are doing an amazing job! I am hooked now! I love your workouts and have to say that you are most probably the best trainer I had the chance to have – too bad you are so far, I would have one-on-one sessions with you! But, fortunatelly, you post your videos. I have watch them all and made myself a schedule trying to mix and match some of them… Ok, I have only started this morning, now my challenge is to keep it up and follow the schedule I have prepared.

My goal is to loose 15 pounds. I am 42, 5″2 and 130 pounds. I started gaining weight 10 years ago when I quit smoking, back then, I was 110lbs but also 10 years younger 😉

My biggest problem is motivation. This is why I decided to write a comment. I feel so motivated by your blog that I felt I needed to let you know so you don’t stop it!!

Keep on the good work and I’ll do the same 🙂

    Thank you!!

    • thanks for visiting 🙂
MOTIVATION..oh….we all need it!!! Just remember WHY you do this! it should help you get ready for your next workout 😉 Always stay positive and believe you can do it!

      • Nathalie says:

Hey there! Just want to give you an update about my workout this morning… I did your HIIT workout and did it for 30 minutes + warm up and cool down. I ran\walked for 2.96 miles which for me is very good.

Then, I did your general workout, did 2 rounds but was not able to do the side plank sets on the second round 😦

I feel soooo good now! Very motivated and proud of my accomplishment!! Now, let’s hope I can keep it up 🙂

        Take care!

I’m a 50 yr old woman recovering from cancer that has affected the ligaments and muscles in my pelvic area, I have also lost a lot of weight too, close on to 50lbs in 5 months.
I have been left with a flabby tum as the loss has been rapid, I’d like to start exercising but was starting to feel miserable because I just can’t do crunches etc while lying down. I have a lot of pain and stiffness in hips and thighs due to my treatment and this kind of limits how I exercise, fatigue too.
I purchased a gym ball a few weeks back but wasn’t too sure how to use it and was getting a bit depressed by it all! I found your video last night and realised that this could be the way of moving forward, gentle but effective exercise that could help my flabby bits without causing me terrible pain. I tried it this morning, managed not to fall off the ball and although I need to practice, I could do it without pain AND I felt the pull of the muscles working!
    Thanks for your help 🙂

Wonderful! You are wonderful, your approach, purity, sincerity, simplicity, honesty, the range of coverage.
This is absolutely the best health and exercise videos for women that’s out there!
You prove that with your looks and attitude! You have a gorgeous body that every woman would desire! Proportional, lean, toned, fit and slim.
I am emphasizing this, coz there’s tones of “women-coaches” being bulky or fat, not having any femininity in their shape. Nor even 10% of shape and tone that you do!
Congrats! It’s not an easy task, takes a lot of sacrifices, and that’s for respect!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
    You’re work is tremendous!
I was desperately looking for a quality smart-workout for ladies, and now I finally found yours!
