Hiking, Hiking and more hiking!!

This weekend I hiked more than I could possibly imagine – for a holiday weekend of course, and away from my family.  On Friday I revisited my local park trails. On Saturday, however, I drove to Angeles Mountains National Forest and discovered some beautiful scenery there! I was really lucky because the weather was fantastic! It was warm but mostly cloudy.  On occasion, the sun would come out to say ‘hello’. That allowed me to hike for long hours on steep trails without overheating. On Sunday I wanted to drive there again but it rained in the morning and early afternoon. Sunday evening I realized how sore I was from all those outdoor activities! I guess, I won’t be exercising my butt and legs anytime soon 😉

Crazy Day – before Holidays!

It was a crazy busy day for me! I had a lot of work to do and a few projects on my mind, which have been waiting for me.  Still, I managed to go to kickboxing class in the morning,  go on a 1.5 hour long hike in the mountains, assist a beginner karate class in the afternoon, and take my own karate class in the evening. I came back home a little after 10pm with enough energy left just to shower and crawl into bed. Now when I reflect on it, I think it was a physically draining day.

For those of you, who are preparing for the Holidays this weekend, just a remainder: Don’t stuff yourself. Enjoy tasty food but in small portions 🙂  And a piece of cake or a desert split with your loved ones 🙂

I will be hiking somewhere in the mountains, or possibly camping 🙂

Great Urban Race Challenge – I taught the participants karate!

Great Urban Race visited out karate this weekend! This race is a wild urban adventure. Teams solve twelve clues and complete exciting mental and physical challenges while discovering the city in a particular way  One of the challenges was to come in to our karate  dojo and learn A) 6 techniques fighting combination and B) do knuckle push ups on cinder blocks!  I was involved in the first part and taught the participants how to execute that combination. It consisted of a front snap kick, left jab to face, right punch to stomach, roundhouse kick, spinning back kick and a reverse punch! I had only 5 minutes to complete a short warm up and teach the combination! Crazy but it was fun!!  Sounds easy but doing it over and over for hours….. drained me! Couldn’t imagine a better workout!! It wasn’t just me teaching all the time – we rotated but I’ve done it many, many times throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it a lot because all the people coming in were full of energy and fun! Most of them had awesome costumes. Here is a picture with one of the participants dressed as a Marijuana leaf 🙂 Hilarious idea!

Abs and Upper body workout

Surprisingly, after my last butt and legs workout, I felt it in my muscles. That’s great, however the next day when I did my abs workout, during some exercises, in which I had to elevate my feet, my legs were just killing me! To make a long story short: Abs workout can NOT follow the legs day 🙂 I have to keep that in mind.

Here is the breakdown:  I started with intense THREE 2 min rounds on a jump rope, with 10 sec. breaks between rounds. I counted my skips and did over 900 🙂 Excellent cardio warm up! I felt it mostly in my wrists, and neck! Then I moved on to the floor for abs. I did about 20 min of different exercises. I did a lot of  crunches with weights, twists with dumbbells, side bends and bicycles. Later, I did my upper body combination with light weights.  Sounds easy but I felt it. This type of workout is really good for toning your muscles.

Fabulous butt and legs workout

I put together my first workout for that new bikini body challenge. Today I worked out my butt, legs and thighs. The workout is very simple & straightforward: just watch the video and follow the instructions. There are no complicated moves; therefore all exercises can be done anywhere 🙂  In addition, I did my jump rope cardio: Eight 30 sec. rounds.  I completed this part before my butt and legs workout. Get your beach body just in a few weeks! – CHALLENGE

Good news, Summer is just around the corner! I figured, getting that toned body to fit into a biking seems like a perfect new goal. Sounds great, right? – but it’s not that simple. I know from my personal experience that first couple weeks are the hardest! It requires a lot of discipline and motivation. 20 minutes workout 3 times a week – that’s just may not be enough. In addition, you have to eat right, drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. That’s right, you have to change your lifestyle! The sooner you start, the better you’ll look 🙂  I’m starting tomorrow!

Karate testing well done!! I’m back!

I’m back! It’s been a very long, long week. Proudly and happily, I survived many long days at the Karate Honbu (Headquarters) Dojo. I tested along with many other people from Italy, South Africa, England, New Zealand and the US. I’m still bruised from fights but overall I’m fine – not in pain anymore 🙂 While in NY, I ate a lot because I needed to be strong, and naturally, I gained some weight. I will take a next few days to recover and come up with some new challenging workouts. Here is a picture from New York with the Grandmaster, Kaicho Nakamura and Nidaime.

I’m in New York !!

I made it! I’m in New York City! Yesterday I walked miles and miles! Although, I know the area because I used to live nearby for some time.  Nevertheless, I like the city spirit and energy. I spent a few hours in Central Park although it was very cold. Later in the evening I walked around Times Square for another couple hours. I wanted to see a play or a musical but somehow I ended up in Brooklyn in a candy store! I will be in town for a few day so who knows, maybe I will got a chance for some entertainment in the Theater district. Right now I have to focus on karate because it’s a reason why I’m here. Next few days will be very hard and stressful for me.

Obviously, there will be no workout videos for the next few days 😦   I will make it up somehow when I get back to LA. Meanwhile, Wish me LUCK!

Perfect ABS workout – it really works!

I finished another video. I love this one! It looks very simple when you watch it but try it out and you will be sweating like crazy!!  While filming it, I was surprised how tough it was. I even had a second thought about difficulty level; but I’ve completed the workout TWICE and I feel great! So why don’t you try it and let me know what you. A lot of muscles (muscle groups) are engaged in those exercises and the workout is intense; therefore it’s very, very effective and you should see results quickly. think
